(DI-2211) Collector for Monitoring System Logs
The technical name of the Collector for Monitoring System Logs is /DVD/MON_CL_COL_SYSLOG.
This collector falls under GRC (Governance Risk Compliance)* monitoring. It collects information by reading the SAP system log file. It comes with two pre-defined KPIs. However, more can be defined through the input table. The input table reflects select options of transaction SM21.
Default KPIs
This collector includes by default these predefined KPIs:
KPI name | Description | Unit | Detail Table |
---|---|---|---|
SLG_DEBUG | Number of changes in debug mode | Count | Yes |
SLG_KERNEL | Number of activated C-calls debugging | Count | Yes |
NOTE: All standard system log KPIs have the prefix SLG_*
Input table
The KPIs may be defined in the input table /DVD/MON_SLGMSG2 with these fields:
Technical name | Column name | Description |
---|---|---|
KPI | KPI | KPI Name |
KPI_RULE_NUMBER | KPI Rule Number | KPI rule number |
AREA | Area for system log | System log: message area (First part of the message number) |

If you wish to monitor custom values of data in alert log, you will need to define new custom KPI in CrystalBridge Monitoring cockpit before assigning it to input table. You can find guide here (DI-2211) How to Create a Custom KPI through a Collector with a Custom KPI
KPI value is number of occurrences of specified data defined through input table found in alert log. You can also use existing SLG* KPIs in input table if you do not want to create your own custom KPIs. Data will be propagated into input table either way.
Detail table
The collector provides also a detailed output of KPIs in a Detail table. The Detail table System log info - /DVD/MON_SLGINF2 contains the following fields:
Technical name | Description |
---|---|
TIMESTAMP | Timestamp |
SID | System ID |
SERVER | Server name |
RECID | Record ID |
