(DI-2108) Wizard Setup of the BW Analysis

BW wizard installs all settings, which are necessary to run the Fiori and SAP GUI analyses. Please note that only an Insights administrator should run the wizard.

To run the BW wizard enter the transaction /DVD/HS_WIZ or the transaction /DVD/MON and in the menu select Goto > BW analysis wizard.

1. Wizard contains several steps; the first one is an introductory screen.

2. The System ID is filled with the system name, in which the BW analysis will be configured.

   The field is automatically filled with the current central system. If you want to configure the BW analysis on another system, just type the name of the system in this field (or press key F4). The selected system must have a valid RFC destination.

3. Open

   

   You can configure only one system at a time. If you need to configure more systems, repeat the steps for every system.

4. To obtain relevant information about the usage of your BW system, activate the OLAP statistics and the Extended query statistics. The Datavard Extended query statistics help you to capture even more detailed information about executions of queries on your BW system.

5. The wizard checks the fields and hence automatically activates the OLAP statistics.

6. Open

   

   Make sure you have set the OLAP Detail Level 2 for the objects (queries and InfoProviders) for which you would like to run the query analysis. You can perform this through the transaction RSDDSTAT on the system you selected in the first step.

    

7. If you are using a different language than English for query descriptions, you may change it to a language of your choice on the next screen. This setting is used globally for all analyzed systems.

8. 'Display InfoProviders' button - displays the current split characteristic of an InfoProvider and enables you to change it to the most suitable one.

    

    

9. ‘Add additional time char.’ button - enables you to add additional time characteristics.

10. To obtain relevant results of Data distribution analysis, a split characteristic should be identified by most of the InfoProviders (at least by those that are interesting for you). Based on this split characteristic, data is split into year partitions. To find out the number of identified split characteristics may be a time-consuming action, therefore the 'Refresh' button displays the most recent statistics.

11. Confirm the next pop-up.

12. A collector regularly collects analyzed data from a satellite system and transfers them to the central system. Data is then processed by front end applications which display results. If you are scheduling BW collectors on the selected system for the first time, you should schedule their first execution at least 1 week after you turn on the Extended query statistics. This is important for Data distribution analysis, as the analysis identifies the split characteristic (the most used time characteristic) of the InfoProviders based on these statistics.

13. Last step is to confirm the setup by clicking on the 'Complete' button.

14. After clicking on the 'Exit' button, you can see the setup summary. Please review the execution logs. If the logs contain an error, please view the long text.
    In the case of an error, you may repeat the setup of the system.
