(GLUE-1905) Create from external(link Glue table)

From the Initial Screen of Glue Data Dictionary, you can create Glue Table from already existing External Table. 

Glue table is created based on HIVE table that exists on Hadoop cluster. The field types are automatically converted from HIVE/Impala types to standard SAP types (data elements must be added manually if needed).



 

Procedure

  1. Press Create Glue table from external table icon
  2. Specify following popup fields: 
  • Glue Table – the name for newly created Glue Table
  • Description – description of new Glue Table
  • External table – the name of existing External table from which Glue Table will be created
  • Storage ID – defines storage where the external table exists
  • Package – the package where new Glue Table will be created

3. Proceed


4. New Glue table is created.

This table can be used for all available Glue features: Data Browser, Data extractions, and InfoProviders, but first you must manually specify data elements.
