(GLUE-1812) SAP to Binary Storage Extractor

You can use SAP to Binary Storage extractor to transfer data from SAP table or SAP InfoProvider (DSO, InfoCube) to any file system (for example to Hadoop's HDFS).

To create this extractor:

  1. Go to Glue Extractor Workbench
  2. Right-click on SAP to Binary Storage, select Create Extractor
  3. Specify the following parameters:
    • Extractor name -  technical name of an extractor
    • Description -  description of an extractor
    • Extractor type - this value is predefined, but you can change it using a simple drop-down menu. To create SAP to Binary Storage extractor, select this type.
    • Source type - type of the source object. You can choose among these objects using a drop-down menu.
    • Source -  name of the source, from which the data is transferred. You may use F4 help.
    • Storage ID - a name of Binary storage ID. You may use F4 help.
    • Container name - any desired name of an existing or non-existing container in the file system for the selected Storage ID.

4. Define a Delta type mechanism.

You may choose a Delta type, only if Source type is SAP table. See the the chapter Delta mechanisms for more information. If the source type isn't a SAP table, the system automatically selects a Delta type.

For the Source type "SAP DSO" the program chooses automatically Change log delta and by the Source type is "SAP InfoCube" it is the Request delta .

For more information, please see (GLUE-1812) BW Delta Mechanisms.

5. The Fieldname Mapping is automatically generated.

The mapping contains all the fields that will be extracted.
The Selection column in the Fieldname Mapping table is used to select fields, which are used for filtering (selection) of data by the variant definition. More information can be found in the part Variant Selection.

Please note: Maximum number of selected fields is 100.

7. Before you use an extractor, save it and activate it. In the case you activate an unsaved extractor, it is saved automatically before activation.

8. The next step is to create a Variant.
