(2208) Upgrading SAP BW on HANA to BW/4HANA

This document lists necessary steps when upgrading SAP BW on HANA to BW/4HANA with OUTBOARD™ Data Tiering.

Before upgrade

  1. Reload data for all DataProviders of type ODSO and delete them from the OUTBOARD™ Data Tiering.

  2. Delete generated VirtualProviders – select Other->Expert tools from the menu bar in the Data Tiering Main Screen and execute report /DVD/OFF_DELETE_VP. Leave select-option for DataProvider empty to delete all VirtualProviders.

After upgrade

  1. (2208) BW/4HANA enhancement and BAdI implementation to allow generating of BAdI providers.

  2. Execute Impact Analysis and Object adjustment in the DataProvider Wizard for all relevant DataProviders.

  3. In the table RSBKDTP, identify DataProviders that are used in the Data Transfer Processes as a source object. These DTPs will not extract offloaded data on BW/4HANA systems. There is a possibility of a workaround by following this (2208) DTP on BW/4HANA.
