(DI-2105) Create a Secondary Connection to Oracle Database

Datavard Insights is running on the SAP ABAP system, therefore it needs a secondary database connection to Oracle database for its monitoring.

To enable the connection to the Oracle database, create the connection as follows:

  1. Start the transaction DBCO (or start transaction SM30, enter the Table/View DBCON and click Maintain)

  2. Click New Entries.

  3. Enter DB Connection (e.g. ORACLE) and set DBMS to ORA.

  4. Enter a valid User Name and DB password.

This user is not a SAP user but must exist on the Oracle database and needs to have administrator privileges for the monitoring to work correctly.

5. Enter DB identifier in the Conn. info field (more information for Database identification can be found in the SAP note Secondary connections to Oracle database).

6. Save the connection

When the connection created and saved, you might test it via the report ADBC_TEST_CONNECTION in transaction SE38.
