(DTERP-2211) Regular archiving

Archiving with the mass archiving wizard is a strong feature mainly for the initial phase. After this phase, the best approach is to use initial run parameters to set regular archiving. During initial archiving all necessary parameters are set and data are archived. Regular archiving is much easier because all important parameters are already defined. These parameters are defined in a mass archiving run, therefore if you want to execute regular archiving you just need to copy these parameters into a new run and execute it. You have two options for how to execute regular archiving.

Automatically

This approach is leverage integration with OutBoard Housekeeping where you can schedule archiving runs using the specific archiving task. This task executes the following actions:

  • Copy existing run parameters into a new run

  • Generate archiving variants

  • Execute variants

OutBoard Housekeeping can manage multiple systems in the landscape from the central instance.

Scheduling

The regular run needs to have a defined run from which all necessary parameters will be copied. It is necessary that this so-called template run needs to have a relative selection of date fields. The relative condition is important because, in the copied archiving run, the selection is calculated relative to the current datum. Archiving task settings contain selected run with other execution parameters. Execution can be done using transaction /DVD/ERNA with task OutBoard ERP archiving - mass archiving regular run. More information about scheduling possibilities can be found in OutBoard Housekeeping documentation.

Manually

With manual execution, you have more control over the regular archiving process. Manual steps that need to be done:

  • Copy existing run parameters into the new run

  • Finish archiving wizard

  • Execute variants using the monitor
