(DI-2211) Report to setup recipient(s) for alert notification
The purpose of this report is to help the users to display an overview of existing and active alerts for provided KPIs and if these alerts have defined any existing notification for the provided recipient(s). Another key feature of this report is that for not existing notifications for provided recipient list, the users are able to activate these notifications in an easy way as explained below on this page.
The technical name of the report is /DVD/MON_NOTIFICATION_SETUP and for now, this report has to be executed manually (e.g., with transaction SE38). If this report is executed, the following initial selection screen is displayed.
KPI name - a list of KPI names for which you would like to display all existing alerts (to check whether this KPI has assigned any existing alert threshold).
If this field is empty, all KPIs are included in the data selection.
Recipient address - a list of recipients for which you would like to display a notification status for an existing alert assigned to KPI. All provided recipients will be displayed for each existing alert with status information on whether this recipient is assigned (active notification) or not assigned (not active notification) to the given alert.
If this field is empty, only the current alert notification setup is displayed. When no recipient is defined, it’s not possible to activate the notification for an existing alert.
Type of notification - a type of notification for the provided recipient address. The following recipient types are supported and it’s not possible to combine various recipient types at one time:
E-mail
SAP Office message to the user
Private distribution list
Shared distribution list
Only display KPIs with alerts
if this checkbox is checked, only those KPIs that have at least one assigned alert are displayed in the ALV output.
if this checkbox is unchecked, all KPIs are displayed in the ALV output (also those KPIs which do not have any alert defined).
System ID - If this field is empty, only alerts with a defined empty System ID are considered in data selection. If a specific System ID is provided, the alerts for this specific system are considered in data selection, but also the alerts with general setup (empty System ID value which applies for all systems) are loaded (as these records are also suitable for provided System ID).
1. Display an existing notification setup for specific KPIs
If you would like to only display an overview of an existing alerting setup for specific KPIs, fill only the list of KPI names at the selection screen. In this scenario, you are not allowed to activate any notifications for existing alerts as no recipient is provided.
Display an existing notification setup for all specific KPIs
In the following screenshot, you might see an example of a KPI which does not have any alert defined, so it couldn’t have any recipient defined.
If provided KPI has defined any alert but this alert does not have assigned any recipient, the notification status in the ALV output is displayed as inactive (red icon).
If provided KPI has defined any alert and this alert has assigned any recipient, the notification status in the ALV output is displayed as active (green icon).
2. Modifying notification setup for specific KPIs and recipients
If you would like to add or delete recipients for existing alerts, fill in the list of KPI names (KPIs whose alerts you want to select) and the list of recipient addresses. If provided recipient address already exists in the notification setup, the Type of notification is automatically prefilled according to its assigned type. Otherwise, for the non-existing recipient address, you have to select the required Type of notification.
When KPI names and recipient addresses are filled, the report generates all combinations of the existing alerts and their recipient address assignments based on provided inputs. These combinations are then displayed in the following ALV output with their notification status:
If the recipient address is already assigned to an existing alert, the notification status shows the green icon.
If the recipient address is not assigned to an existing alert yet, the notification status shows the red icon.
2.1 Insert/Update recipients for alerts
If you want to assign any non-existing recipients for specific alerts, you have to select the required rows first. Additionally, you might set the checkboxes “At first”, “At next” or “At end” according to your needs (these options define when the notification should be sent. More details about this setup can be found on the page Advanced alerting).
It is not possible to add a new recipient into the line that does not have any active alert.
When rows are selected and adjusted according to your needs, click the button Insert/Update Recipients to update the notification setup.
These changes are automatically saved and the ALV output is refreshed immediately after this action. If everything was successful, the notification status is changed into the green icon for all updated records. The green icon means that this recipient is assigned to the alert.
If you want to modify the checkboxes “At first”, “At next” or “At end” afterward, you need to repeat the previous action again to be able to update these fields.
2.2 Delete recipients of the alerts
If you want to delete any already assigned recipients for specific alerts, you have to select the required rows first. When required rows are selected, click the button Delete recipients to delete the existing recipients for selected alerts.
When deleting any data, a confirmation pop-up window appears and asks you to confirm this deletion. If confirmed, all changes are automatically saved and the ALV output is refreshed immediately after this action. If everything was successful, the notification status is changed into the red icon for all updated records. The red icon means that the recipient is not assigned to the alert.
