(SP35) Scheduled Run

Create Scheduled Run

Specify the technical settings for the Scheduled Run in the Settings – Scheduled Run tab, as shown in the picture below:

Setting - Scheduled run

The meaning of these parameters is the same as in the Initial Run tab. Start the creation of Scheduled Run and refresh the screen – Scheduled Run archiving variant will be created for each InfoProvider.

Single and Multiple Scheduled runs

As of OutBoard Winter release 2014, there are two ways how to create a scheduled run. When the option "Single" is enabled, the scheduled run will behave the same as before. One scheduled run will be created based on specified time restrictions. When option "Multiple" is enabled, you are able to divide scheduled run into more archiving runs and this way divide a large amount of archived data into smaller requests – similar to initial run variants.

Start Scheduled Run

The Scheduled Run can be started the same way as Initial Run, just by clicking on the button Start Scheduled Run. It can be also scheduled in a process chain. The process chain together with the parameter Scheduled Run Duration allows the user to execute the archiving only in times specified by the user (for example only on weekends or at night).

Reset Scheduled Run and Reset Scheduled Run Status

These options are the same as for Initial Run. The user can access them in Menu → Bar Actions → Scheduled Run → Reset Run (Ctrl + F8) and Menu → Bar Actions → Scheduled Run → Reset Run Status (Ctrl + F9).

Schedule Run in Process Chain

In TA RSPC a new Process type "Outboard group archiving" has to be created and added to a process chain. The user can edit and create this Process type in Settings → Maintain Process Types.

Group archiving - Process Type for group archiving

It is recommended to create this Process Type as in the screen. When this Process type has been created successfully, the "Outboard group archiving" Process Type can be found in Process types → Data Target administration and added to Process chains.  Here the object /DVD/NLS_GROUP_ARCH is the only mandatory parameter required for this process type and was developed especially to allow mass archiving functionality in process chains.

Mass Archiving - Process chain archiving

In process chains, the following two mentioned Mass archiving programs can be started. As a prerequisite for scheduling in process chains, the variants of these reports have to be created firstly:

  • /DVD/NLS_GP_EXE_SRUN_PER_GP (Scheduled Run)
  • /DVD/NLS_GP_EXE_IRUN_PER_GP (Initial run).

During the creation of the variant, the Group Name has to be specified (Log number should be empty). Then the process of the process chain has to be modified with the Program Name and Program Variant as can be seen in the following screen:

Group archiving - Process Maintenance

Keep in mind, the standard variant for the mass archiving needs to be created first. This can be done in a standard way i.e. in transaction SE38 (usually, only the name of the group is predefined in the variant of the report).
