(2108) Step 2. Impact analysis

Impact analysis for the objects using the SDA+ interface finds dependent objects such as MultiProviders or CompositeProviders and Lookups for the selected DataProvider. Detailed information about Impact analysis can be found in the chapter (2108) Object Translation.

  1. To start the analysis, proceed with the Wizard or on the main screen select specific DataProviders from the context menu and choose Impact Analysis.
  2. Click Execute analysis and then Refresh.
The Impact analysis is executed on all DataProviders, which are present in the DataProvider name column. If you want to analyze only one DataProvider, select a particular row.

After execution of the analysis, all found dependent objects are displayed (Lookups, MultiProviders, or CompositeProviders). With a click on Switch object status you may switch the status of the dependent objects among:

  • Not adjusted - Dependent object which isn't adjusted (reading archived data is not possible in this stage)
  • Adjusted - All Dependent objects are adjusted and DataProvider is ready to read archived data
  • Ignored - Dependent object is ignored and will not be adjusted

To display all the queries above the Composite or MultiProvider, click on  at the end of the row with the specific MultiProvider. Information about the query for the particular InfoProvider appears, or a message which informs you that the InfoProvider doesn't contain any queries.

Transitive navigation attributes are not supported.

In a column Transitive navigational attributes, the user can see if the InfoProvider contains any or not. It is not allowed to add Transitive navigational attributes to the Cube, therefore it will be not added to the generated Virtual Provider. The VirtualProvider can be included in the CompositeProvider but TNA needs to be turned off from CP`s output in order to successfully reactivate CP (manually). Any query built on top of such CP with turned off TNA and the query columns mapped to turned off TNA - will be NOT executable. Click on the button TNA will display the list of InfoObjects and their transitive navigational attributes.

Standard Offloading/reloading is functional.

Impact analysis for the objects using the DTO interface finds queries for selected DataProvider and dependent CompositeProviders. Click on Switch object status to (dis)allow reading of archived data.

Offloading ratio calculation determines how much space is saved by offloading the selected data. This calculation is executed either automatically when a new DataProvider is created, or manually by selecting a specific DataProvider and clicking on Calculate ratio. The initial calculation is just approximate. The offloading ratio can be recalculated to get more accurate values.

To proceed with the Wizard go to the (2108) Step 3. Object adjustment.
