The purpose of this document is to explain the end-user the process of installing Datavard's OutBoard DataTiering.
This document is aimed for SAP system administrators and BW consultants who should primary work with OutBoard DataTiering.

Installation

Prerequisites

• OutBoard DataTiering installation package

• A valid license from your Datavard consultant

• SAP Add-On Installation Tool (transaction SAINT) version 33 or higher

• System with Add-ons

• • SAP_ABA 701 or a higher version
  • SAP_BASIS 701 or a higher version
  • SAP_BW 701 with SP 6 or a higher version

Step-by-step Installation Process

1. The OutBoard installation package is an Add-on which must be imported using the Add-On Installation Tool (transaction SAINT). Upload and import all *.pat files using the wizard (detailed guide can be found under the SAINT online documentation). OutBoard support packages must be updated using the SPAM Update (transaction SPAM) up to the level 18 (detailed guide can be found under SPAM online documentation). After a successful OutBoard Data Tiering SP18 installation the software component DVD 200 with the Level 18 will be available in the system as shown on the screen.
   
   
   
2. Import the transport NSQK903789. Transport files are included in the downloaded zip file. This transport contains table content for the OutBoard Lookup Translator.
3. Import the transport HD1K900376. Please note: This step is only required in case you want to archive ADSO and your SAP system has a SAP_BW component version 7.40 SP16 and above. More info about the support of ADSO can be found under the OutBoard User Documentation.
4. Access the OutBoard Cockpit by entering the transaction /n/DVD/OUTBOARD in your BI system. Select License in the top menu and click on Install License or press F2.
   
   
5. Now enter the calendar date until which the license is valid and your License key in the fields below. Press F8 to complete the installation.
   
   
6. To make the system aware that OutBoard is available you should complete a registration. This is done with the transaction RSDANLCON. To register OutBoard fill in ‘OUTBOARD’ in the field Near-Line Conn. and fill ‘/DVD/NLS_CONNECTION’ in the field Name of Class.

Congratulations! Now you can use Datavard OutBoard DataTiering for data archiving.
After installation the next step is to determine which data you should archive. OutBoard DataTiering can automatically help you to analyze this based on best practices from other companies and the size of your database tables. You can immediately archive your data based on this analysis, or you can manually select the data you wish to archive. We will show you how to perform these functions in the following section.
