Landscape monitor setup is a one-time activity that does not need to be repeated. Setup is done on Central system and consists of two main steps:

  1. Setup of system landscape in the Landscape Monitor with setup of basis collectors for each monitored system.
  2. Setup of ETL processes for data collection from satellite systems to central system.

How to setup system landscape

First thing is to run DataVard Landscape Monitor via transaction /DVD/RL_LM or program '/DVD/RL_LM_MONITOR' in transaction SE38. Here you need to define all systems that will be monitored by Insights and also central system as described in the following section.
NOTE: Users working with DataVard Landscape Monitor should have following authorization role assigned "DVD_ITOA_MIN". This authorization role should be assigned also to users of RFC connections used to connect to satellite systems.

Defining new system

  1. Change to Edit mode in DVD Landscape Monitor by pressing 'Ctrl + F1' or toolbar button.
  2. Right click on 'All Systems' node to add new system where Insights was installed successfully.
  3. Fill in required information for the system:
    • System Name – should be same as system abbreviation in your landscape
    • RFC Destination – RFC connection to the system (For central system you can leave this field empty).
    • Description – Custom Description of system
    • System Type – BW

4. Press 'Enter' button to confirm creation of system node.

5. To make sure you provided correct system information you can double click on created system node in system tree. System Information dialog window (e.g. SAP System Release) should be displayed with correct information.

How to setup collectors and ETL processes

Scheduling of collectors

When systems you would like to monitor are correctly defined together with central system, you can schedule execution of collectors for each system.

  1. In DVD Landscape Monitor switch to 'Profiles' tab.
  2. Generate profile instance for each satellite system that you want to schedule collectors for. For generation of instance click on icon   or do the right-click on profile row and chose "Generate Instance".

3. Fill in satellite system id (where you want to schedule) the collector run.

4. Confirm creation of analysis profile instance

5. Schedule instance by click on iconor do the right-click on instance row and chose "Schedule Process".

6. Decide when the profile instance should be scheduled and their recurrence.

7. Do the same for all desired systems and profiles mentioned bellow.

Status of scheduled process should change to 'Scheduled' if you set up future date/time for analysis start or 'Running' if you selected 'Start Immediately' option. You should start scheduling of all defined scheduling processes.

Scheduling of ETL process

Insights ETL processes serve the purpose of gathering Insights collector data from satellite systems to central system. For each system where collectors are running you need to generate instance of ETL profile and schedule it appropriately.

  1. In DVD Landscape Monitor switch to 'Profiles' tab.
  2. Generate instance for each satellite system that you want to schedule ETL process.
  3. For generation of instance click on icon   or right-click on profile row and choose "Generate Instance". Fill in satellite system (source system) and confirm.

  1. Schedule instance by clicking on icon  or right-click on instance row and choose "Schedule Process".
  2. Decide when the profile instance should be scheduled and their recurrence.
