For enablement of BW module analyses additional setup is required. See following sections with detail information.

Additional OData setup

BW module requires two more OData services to be registered on central system. See section Setup OData & Fiori for details how to register OData service. Odata services that should be registered in addition to standard Insights OData services can be found in General add-on information section.

Additional monitoring setup

BW module collectors use Insights monitor on central system for their setup . This section contains description how these collectors can be scheduled on central system for satellite systems.

Adjusting monitored satellite system

To make scheduling of BW module collectors possible on satellite system (i.e. system to be monitored) this system must be present in monitored system list and must have correct monitoring area assigned. For information how to add satellite system to list of monitored system see /wiki/spaces/ITOA/pages/4474634314. When satellite system is successfully added to the list of monitored systems, BW module monitoring area must be assigned to it. To do this follow these steps:

  1. In /DVD/MON transaction for Insights monitor go to 'System Settings' (Shift + F5).
  2. Select system to be monitored by BW module collectors.
  3. Double click on 'System mon. areas' in dialog structure tree.
  4. Click on 'New Entries' (F5) button.
  5. Add new entry with following value 'HMBW'.
  6. Press 'Enter' and save changes.
  7. It will be possible to schedule the BW module collectors for this satellite system now.

Scheduling new analysis

  1. Run transaction /DVD/MON for Insights monitor.
  2. Switch to 'Collector Jobs' tab.

  3. Click on 'Create collector job' button
  4. Fill following collector job settings:
    1. System ID - system where to run analysis (Insights BW module must be installed on the monitored system). This should be satellite system.
    2. Monitoring profile - profile that specifies analyses to be run on the system. Currently BW module supports following profiles and their respective collectors:
      1. HMBW_1DAY profile with collectors:
        1. Data Distribution Collector
        2. Query Usage Collector
    3. Execution - time when first analysis run should be executed.
    4. Period - periodicity of collector job execution. This setting should follow these recommendations for monitoring profiles of BW module:
      1. HMBW_1DAY:
        1. Type: Days
        2. Value: 1
    5. Retention time- periodicity of KPI values deletion. This setting should follow these recommendations for monitoring profiles of BW module:
      1. HMBW_1DAY - 365 days
  5. Click on (Re)Start collector job button
  6. Newly created collector job will appear in table of all collector jobs with all the necessary information regarding its execution status.

Optional collector parameters

Some of collectors do support parameters that can change behavior of their analyses. In this section these parameters are explained. To specify parameter for a collector following steps are needed:

  1. Select "Monitoring settings" menu from transaction /DVD/MON
  2. From the list of collector select collector for which you want to define parameter.

  3. Double click on "Collector's parameters" tree menu.
  4. Add new parameter into table. Parameter values are always bound to profiles.

BW module uses single profile HMBW_1DAY for execution of all its collectors. Therefore every parameter defined in this section should be created for this profile.

Collector NameParameter NameValue ExampleDescription
/DVD/MON_HM_CL_COL_QULANGUAGEDE (valid language key)Using this parameter you can force query usage collector to search long texts of queries in specified language. It is recommended to use this parameter if English long texts are not maintained for objects in customer system.
