(DI-2205) Import and Export Monitoring System Data or the Monitoring Setup

This functionality allows you to export all CrystalBridge® Monitoring setup and collected data from one SAP central system and import this setup into a different SAP system. This procedure is mainly used when you need to move the monitoring setup from one SAP central system to another SAP system or when you want to backup CrystalBridge® Monitoring setup. You might access the export and import functionalities via the CrystalBridge® Monitoring Menu bar item for Monitor.

The high-level step by step procedure to move data from one central system to another:

  • Before you start, you need to stop all collector jobs scheduled on the old central system
  • Determine what kind of data you would like to export (only monitoring setup, only collected data, or both)
    • To export the monitoring setup, select the item Export mon. setup
    • To export collected data, select the item Export coll. data
    • To export monitoring setup and also collected data, the above-mentioned steps need to be done
  • Export all required data (determined in the previous step) from the old central system
  • Import all exported data from the old central system on the new system
    • To import the monitoring setup, select the item Import mon. setup
    • To import collected data, select the item Import coll. data
    • To import monitoring setup and also collected data, the above-mentioned steps needs to be done
  • Check whether all data are available on the new system

Technical requirement

To export data into your local storage, this storage needs to have free disk space to store this data from the central system (assumed only a few MB, but it depends on the system size, activities, and customizations on the central system).

Export monitoring setup and collected data

This functionality downloads CrystalBridge® Monitoring setup or collected data for the selected system based on the selected scenario.

  • If Export mon. setup option selected, there is a predefined list of customizing tables for all set up on the central system. For these tables, there is no need to specify any System ID or time range to download all setup. You need to only specify the path where this setup data will be downloaded. Optionally, you might change the number of maximum records per one generated file for each table (for example, if one table has 100K records and a maximum number of records per file is 50K, there will be two files created with 50K records).
  • If Export coll. data option selected, there is a predefined list of transactional tables for collected data on a specific system. You need to also specify the path where this setup data will be downloaded. Optionally, you might change the number of maximum records per one generated file for each table (for example, if one table has 100K records and a maximum number of records per file is 50K, there will be two files created with 50K records). If no System ID is specified in this scenario, data for all systems will be downloaded. Additionally, you might specify a custom time range for collected data. If this time range specified, only data collected in this time range will be downloaded.

If no System ID and time range are provided, the export execution might take a longer time based on your system size, activities, and customization on the central system.

  • Table names - list of tables which content will be downloaded. If you want to download also the content of any custom table (starting with Z* or Y*), you need to add this table name into this list manually.
  • Path to directory - path to which will be data downloaded (and relevant data files generated).
  • Max. nbr. of records per file - defines a maximum number of records available in one data file. For example, if one table has 100K records and the maximum number of records per file is 50K, there will be two files created with 50K records
  • System ID - If the checkbox is selected and a specific System ID defined, only records for this system ID will be downloaded from provided tables.
  • From date and time - If the checkbox is selected and the time range defined, only records within this time range will be downloaded from provided tables.

When everything is filled per your requirements, you need to execute this report and new data file(s) for each table will be created in a defined directory path.

Import monitoring setup and collected data

This functionality uploads CrystalBridge® Monitoring setup or collected data from previously exported data files.

  • If Import mon. setup option selected, there is a predefined list of customizing tables for all set up to be uploaded on the new system. There is no need to specify any System ID or time range to upload all setup. If System ID or time range is specified, only relevant records for this System ID within the specified time range will be uploaded. But in most cases, you need to only specify the path where data files are available.
  • If Import coll. data option selected, there is a predefined list of transactional tables for collected data to be uploaded on the new system. There is no need to specify any System ID or time range to upload collected data. But if you want to upload only data for a specific System ID, you might specify it in the field "Specific selection > Import only system ID". Additionally, you might define a new System ID in the field "and replace with". This will replace the name of the old System ID with the new System ID on the new system.

To upload data to the new system, choose the Path to the directory where exported data is available.

  • Path to directory - path to the directory where the exported data files are available.
  • Table names - list of tables in which content will be uploaded. If you want to upload also the content of any custom table (starting with Z* or Y*), you need to add this table name into this list manually.
  • Test (no DB change) - execute upload in test mode where no data will be saved into DB tables. This option is recommended to test whether all data files are loaded correctly and contain any data. When the report is executed successfully in test mode, you might execute this report in non-test mode (this flag is not checked).
  • Import only system ID - If the checkbox is selected and a specific System ID defined, only records for this system ID will be uploaded from data files available in the provided directory path.
  • and replace it with - the old system ID will be replaced with the new System ID on the new system.
  • From date and time - If the checkbox is selected and the time range defined, only records within this time range will be downloaded from provided tables.

When everything is filled per your requirements, you need to execute this report and if executed in non-test mode, all data will be uploaded into relevant DB tables.
