New Features

Transparent archive

Archive data are extracted from the system and moved to archiving files. Access to this data is then limited to Archiving Information System (SARI). Our product enables you to extract transparent data from the archive files to desired transparent storage from our storage management. Data is then available on target storage and you can consume them via multiple ways:

  • SE16 like access from SAP system

  • Direct processing on the target storage

  • Virtual archiving indexes on SAP system

This process can be executed automatically after a successful store to the content repository or as an optional mass archiving phase.

Virtual index

SAP archiving provides a possibility to create archiving indexes in order to quickly find and access archived data stored in files. Archiving indexes are stored in tables on the primary database and they can occupy quite a lot of space. Our functionality is able to clean up these tables without losing the ability to use archiving indexes. Using the transparent archive feature you are able to have archived data stored in desired transparent storage. These transparent data can be then consumed as a virtual archiving index.

Analyzer

Analyzer is a special functionality that will scan your system in order to get archiving potential and data distribution in regards to desired archiving objects. This functionality provides two types of analyses:

  • Strugglers and data distribution analysis

    • analyze how much data could be archived for which data archiving area, this is a very complex analysis and can take quite time to finish

  • Quick data distribution analysis

    • users that do not want to wait for detailed results of strugglers analysis can utilize quick data distribution analysis

Mass archiving

The process of archiving could be a complex process where you have to decide what needs to be archived and where. This includes also customizing archiving objects and the creation of execution variants. The execution itself requires good timing in order not to create too much stress to the system. All these challenges could be addressed by our mass archiving wizard, which will guide you through the necessary steps and enable you to carry out execution easily.

Wizard steps:

  • Archiving object
  • Archiving area
  • Variants
  • Phases
  • Execution parameters

Supported archiving object

A prerequisite for mass archiving is an analysis done in Analyzer, therefore mass archiving supports all objects that support Analyzer.

Bug fixes

Support of append command for big files

Store of file with size more than 1,99 GB even using APPEND command was failing with short dump. Reading of the data with offset was also the issue. Now you should be able to store files using an append command as big as the target binary storage supports.
