Setting up Hadoop connection with a SAP system

1. Go to the transaction RZ21 on the system, from which the Hadoop external servers will be monitored.

2. Click on Display overview under Topology.


3. Click on Create Entry.


4. Select 'Host' from the drop down menu Component type to be monitored.


5. Enter Host Name for the installed SAP Host Agent.

6. Set a correct password for Monitored Host. This is the same password as the one you filled during the installation of you SAPHost agent on your non-SAP system.

7. Click Save.


Detailed information about how to install and set up the a SAP host agent on a remote server can be found on the official SAP website.


Setting up Hadoop monitoring in Insights

1.Go to the transaction /DVD/MON.


2.Click Add system.


3. Select the system type 'SAP system'.

4. Set SAP system for monitoring:

  • Destination: None
  • Click Check RFC and values are automatically filled.
  • Update System description and System name.
  • On Monitoring areas press F4, clear all the checkboxes and select only 'Operating system'.
  • On External server types for monitoring press F4 and select the server types SAPOSCOL.


5. Confirm.

6. Select servers, which should be monitored by Insights and confirm your selection.


Monitoring

1.Monitoring is set up in Insights System settings.

2. Select the system under which you created the server connection.

3. Double click on the Server list in the tree menu and clear the checkbox Don't monitor for the server, which you want to monitor.

4. Save your changes.

From this moment Insights monitors the server as well as collects the KPIs from the OS level.
