The current functionality is described bellow. As the functionality is being developed continuously, it is expected to include more functions from the SAP Monitoring Cockpit in the future.


Overview

Select a particular system tile in the main view. From there there are two ways how to get to the Monitoring analysis.

You can either select the Alerts tab and choose an alert (as in the figure below) or select the System health tab and click on a tile that directs you to Monitoring analysis.

In the case you enter the Monitoring view from the Alerts tab you can view the KPI, which caused the alert. This alert is from the time period which started short before the alert occurrence and ends short after the alert ending.

If you enter the Monitoring view from the System health tab you can view the KPI related to the selected tile. The time range displays the last measured KPI values.


The Monitoring analysis consists of three tabs. If you select KPI chart, you see how the values change over a period of time for the KPI(s).

With a click on some point on the selected chart line the below figure appears. You may change the color of the KPIs by clicking on the circle next to it. 

The left icon navigates you to the Alert list. The Action Image Addedbutton displays all the possible actions, which are explained below.

In the case the selected KPIs contain an alert, the Alert list tab will be displayed. After clicking on this This tab, displays all the alerts for the selected KPI in the specified time range will be displayed.

If the chosen KPIs are assigned to Detail tables, you can view them by clicking on the particular tab. Each Detail table creates a new tab with a corresponding name.

Date/Time range selection

In this toolbar you can select a date/time period for the chart and Detail tables. All monitoring data in the window is displayed only for the selected period.
You can choose predefined values (as "Hour" or "Day") or you can set any desired date range through the Custom option. If you select for example "Hour", the range will be calculated and applied. To refresh or change this range click on the Refresh button in this section, select another time period or refresh the page in your browser. There is also auto-refresh function, which is by default turned on, but you can turn it on/off with the Auto-refresh button.
With the Settings button you can change the auto-refresh period or periods of the date-time navigation arrows. Using these arrows you can increase or decrease the date-time value.

Actions

In KPI chart tab are several possibilities how to select the displayed actions.

  • One of them is to click on theAction button.


  • The second option is to click on any point on the selected chart line and choose the Action button. Here you can change KPIs color (click on the circle) or navigate to the Alert Detail.


  • The third option is to click on one item in the chart legend and then click on the Action button. Here you can change KPIs color (click on the circle), navigate to the Alert Detail or to use Action button.

The following actions are displayed:

For some actions you must choose a KPI as a parameter. In the case you access the action menu from a point of chart or from legend, this KPI parameter is taken from data you have clicked on.

This action shows additional information about the selected KPI. Such as "Technical name", "Description", "Unit" and "Long description".Image Removed

Show KPI details

This action redirects you to detailed information in a Detail table. You can use this action for any KPI displayed in a chart, which is linked to a Detail table.

Display one KPI

The selected KPI is shown in the chart. When you choose to display only one KPI in a chart, additional information is displayed: vertical left axis with values and alert thresholds (dash-dot line) for the selected KPI and system.

Find correlated KPIs

You can use this action to find KPIs, which correlate with the chosen KPI within the selected selected time range. KPIs with correlation coefficient greater or equal to 70% are displayed.
The way method how you can to find correlation correlated KPIs is displayed on the bellow picturefigure below.

If you want to zoom correlation (the way how to found correlation is explained in the previous chapter), you can zoom it with the mouse as on the bellow picture.

Correlation is calculated for every zoomed area. You can also zoom are You may zoom the correlationby selecting a particular time range. By this type of zoom the correlation is calculated for the zoomed area.

You may zoom with scrolling, also when you are not using correlation.Image Removed. However, this zoom doesn't calculate any results.

Set / Update threshold

After you choose this action, you must first select a KPI and then you can create a new alert threshold or update an existing one.

After selecting one option, the below displayed form is displayed, in which you define conditions based on which the alert occurs. In Advanced Options, you can define additional parameters:

And in Set Notifications section, you can add / remove or change notifications for an alert.

Set anomaly detection

"Anomaly detection" is another way how to monitor KPI behavior. It checks, if KPI values are not behaving in a usual way. After you select a KPI, you can add or change anomaly settings:

Reseting KPIs in the chart to original

If you have changed the list of KPIs displayed in a chart, the Reset button appears near the Menu button. You can use the Reset to display KPIs originally assigned to this analysis.

Alert list tab

  • This tab can be entered by clicking in the Alert list tab or through the KPI chart.
  • In the case you want to access the alert details from the KPI chart, you can select it by clicking on some data point on the KPI chart. A pop-up appears which displays the alert icon.
    By clicking on this alert icon you are directed to the Alert list tab. The Alert list tab displays a table, which is filtered to show only alerts for the selected KPI and the selected time period.

In each row are two action buttons Edit and Detail. With Edit   you can change Processor and Comment fields, which you can use for additional comments.
