Each collector has a different program logic through which it calculates and creates a different KPI. Therefore, if you decide to create a custom KPI through these types of collectors, you should first choose a collector which is suitable for your goals in the chapter List of Collectors with a Custom KPI

Tip

The complete setup of the custom KPI collection is described in the chapter (DI-2305) The Complete Process of Custom KPI Creation and Data Collection.

Step 1: Choose a collector that is suitable for your goals

  1. Find in the chapter (DI-2305) List of Collectors with a Custom KPI a collector that is suitable for your goals.

Step 2: Define a custom KPI

Define the custom KPI as described in the chapter (DI-2305) Define a Custom KPI. After you created the KPI definition, return to this page to complete the creation of a custom KPI.

Note

During the definition, fill in the field KPI collector with the technical name of the chosen collector in step 1.

Step 3: Choose how data is collected into the custom KPI through editing the collector

  1. From the main screen go to the Settings > Collector settings (or transaction /DVD/MON_COL).
  2. Select the collector, which you have to choose in step one. You can search for the name of a collector by pressing

  4. Click Edit next to the Input table name. If the collector contains more Input tables, choose the one which suits your requirements.

    Info

Every collector contains a different Input table. Therefore, you may find by every collector the specific information about the setup of the Input table. An Input table may also contain several KPIs.

Descriptions of Input tables can be found by the specific collector in the chapter (DI-2305) List of Collectors with a Custom KPI.

  5. Click Switch mode Image Modified (Ctrl + F1) and then Create new records (F6).
  6. In the next dialog enter the name of your custom KPI and create a new rule for this KPI.

Every row represents one rule (marked yellow in the figure below) that defines the collection of a KPI. Define the independent fields of the rule. The AND logic is applied between these fields. (For example, KPI name, Rule nr., Unit, etc.).
If you define for a KPI several rules (rows), then the OR logic is applied between these rows. In this case, fill in the rule order into Rule nr.

  7. Save (CTRL + S).

  8. The next step is to specify the monitoring profile of a KPI, as described in the chapter (DI-2305) Define a Monitoring Profile for a KPI.

Additionally, you may find an example in the chapter (DI-2305) Example: Number of type conflicts when calling a FORM.
