Before the planned maintenance

To prevent any inconsistencies of replicated data during planned maintenance/downtime of the SAP system follow these steps to gracefully pause replication via SNP Glue:

Please be aware that Extraction scheduler and Glue Watchdogs are obsolete and are replaced by Glue scheduler. We recommend moving the configurations from Extraction Schedulers and Glue Watchdogs to Glue Scheduler. More information about Glue Scheduler can be found here: (Glue-2302) Glue Scheduler

  1. Turning off Glue Scheduler

    1. Go to SNP Glue cockpit using transaction /DVD/GLUE.

    2. Click on Glue Scheduler.

    3. Click on the Stop button for each configurated Glue Scheduler.

  2. (Obsolete) Turning off Glue Watchdogs:

    1. Go to SNP Glue cockpit using transaction /DVD/GLUE.

    2. Click on Delta watchdog.

    3. Click on Stop Watchdog, and go through every watchdog that is populated.

  3. (Obsolete) Turning off the Extraction Scheduler:

    1. Go to transaction SM37.

    2. Enter the name of the job (ZDVD_GL_ESCH) into the filter and list all jobs.

    3. Stop any scheduled jobs.

  4. After turning off every Glue Scheduler, make sure there are no replication jobs still running:

    1. To make sure no replication jobs are still running, enter SNP Glue Cockpit using transaction /DVD/GLUE, where you can enter the Request monitor.

    2. Selection filter will open, no need to adjust anything:

    3. If no replication jobs are running, the Request monitor should look like this:

  5. Turning off SNP Java Connector

    1. Go to JCO management using transaction /DVD/JCO_MNG, turned on Java Connector marked by a green tick in the column Connection. To stop JCO click on the button Stop all to turn off all Java Connectors or click on the Stop button to stop Java Connector.

Standalone Java Connector cannot be turned off from SAP GUI, manual action on Virtual machine where the Standalone Java Connector is set up is necessary.

After the planned maintenance

Standalone Java Connector cannot be turned on from SAP GUI, manual action on Virtual machine where the Standalone Java Connector is set up, is necessary.

  1. Starting SNP Java Connector

    1. Go to JCO management using transaction /DVD/JCO_MNG, turned off Java Connector is marked by a red cross in the column Connection. To start JCO click on the button Restart all to turn on all Java Connectors or click on the Restart button to start a particular Java Connector.

    2. Successful start of Java Connector will be marked by a green check in the column Connection.

  2. Storage connection check

    1. After a successful Java Connector start, we recommend checking created storage connections. Using transaction /DVD/SM_SETUP enter storage management,

    2. Choose the storage connection that is used and then click on the Check button.

    3. If everything works, the output should look similar to this example:

  3. Starting Glue Scheduler

    2. Click on Glue Scheduler.

    3. Click on the Start button for each configured Glue Scheduler.

  4. (Obsolete) Turning on Glue Watchdogs:

  6. Check request monitor if the jobs are running:

    1. To make sure replication jobs are running after turning on Glue Scheduler, enter SNP Glue Cockpit using transaction /DVD/GLUE, where you can enter the Request monitor.
