(SM-2601) Storage Maintenance
This chapter describes how to evaluate the health of the storage, perform routine maintenance, and troubleshoot issues.
Assessing the Health of Storages
You can easily check the health of your connection by using the built-in testing feature of Kyano Storage Management. This will ensure that the setup is correct and that remote resources are available and working correctly.
Proceed as follows:
Open transaction
/DVD/SM_SETUP.Double-click the storage you want to check.
In the toolbar, click
Check.Evaluate the output.
The check is complete.
Troubleshooting Storages
When you experience issues with the connection, you need to investigate to pinpoint the issue. This subchapter describes the basic troubleshooting procedure.
Things to consider:
Network between SAP and storage
Validity of credentials
Connection to Kyano Java Connector
Unavailability of target storage
Performing a Connection Test
This basic check will tell you if the communication seems to be working at this moment. It will also help you identify any detectable mistakes in the setup.
Proceed as follows to perform the test:
Start transaction
/DVD/SM_SETUP.Right-click the desired storage and select
Check storage.Evaluate the output.
The test is complete.
Sometimes the new window will display a part of the Java log. This indicates an issue inside the Kyano Java Connector. In this case, see below to display the Java logs separately.
Displaying Java logs
You can access the Java logs directly from the storage screen. There is a separate log file for every application server where the Kyano Java Connector is running, so make sure you are displaying the log on the correct application server.
There are two ways to display the logs:
Option 1:
Start transaction
/DVD/SM_SETUP.Double-click the storage you want to check.
In the Java Connector area, click Display Java logs.
Option 2:
Start transaction
/DVD/JCO_MNG.In the relevant row on the right-hand side, click Logs.
The Java logs are displayed.
Backing up the Setup
If you want to back up your setup before making major changes, you can use the built-in backup utility. It is frequently used when creating a quality system copy from the production system.
Proceed as follows:
Start transaction
/DVD/SM_SETUP.In the toolbar, select
Tools>SM Backup.
The Table backup window opens. In the File path field, specify a file path on a local drive, where you want to export the table content.
By default, all the required tables are backed up, but you can manually expand the selection by clicking Specify table selection.
Under Actions, select Export data.
If the tables are not empty, select the Cleanup before import option to truncate the tables before reimporting the contents.
Click Execute.
The backup has been executed.
To restore the setup from the backup, open the tool again, choose a backup file, and select the Import radio button.
Upgrading Kyano Storage Management
Kyano Storage Management upgrades are usually delivered with new quarterly releases of Kyano Outboard or Kyano Glue. You just need to import the new transports and manually upgrade to the latest release of Kyano Java Connector.
