(SM-2508) Master Key - Encryption of Storage Access Credentials

The encryption of storage access credentials is only used for storing hashed passwords in Kyano Storage Management. This feature provides secure access to the storage and makes credentials in SAP tables unreadable. 

Managing the Master Key 

You can use the manage master key function to set up the master key for encrypting all access keys for all storages. 

Proceed as follows to set up the master key: 

  1. Start transaction /DVD/SM_SETUP. 

  2. In the toolbar, click Manage Master key. 

  3. Create a master key. There are two ways to create a master key: 

    1. In the Master key field, enter the password and click Confirm. 

    2. Click Generate key. This generates the master key and saves it automatically. 

After the master key is set, credentials for all storages will be automatically encrypted with the new key. The same procedure is used for updating the master key.
