(SM-2502) Master Key - Encryption of Storage Access Credentials

Encryption of storage access credentials is used for storing only hashed passwords in Storage Management. This feature provides secure access to the storage and makes credentials in SAP tables unreadable.

Manage Master key

Manage Master key functionality is used to set up the Master key for encrypting all access keys for all storages.

Setup Master key

  1. Start transaction /DVD/SM_SETUP.

  2. Click Manage Master key.

  3. Create a Master key.
    There are two options to create a Master key.

    1. Enter the password in the input field and push the confirmation button.

    2. Click Generate key. This way the Master key will be generated and saved automatically.

       

  4. After the Master key is set, credentials for all storages will be automatically encrypted with the new key.

  5. The same procedure is used for updating the Master key.
