(Glue-2408) Objects Generation for the Extraction of SAP Table

SNP Glue™ Objects Generation is a tool that is used to generate multiple extraction objects – you will create a whole flow for extraction in one step. In the simplest scenario of SAP table replication, four components form each of the replication processes – Glue Table, SAP Table fetcher, Glue Table consumer, and Extraction Process. These four components represent a configuration – setting up the source object, the target object, and transformation rules. When you use the tool Objects Generation you can create all four necessary objects together. The tool can be used for mass generation of objects – so you could create whole flows for more tables at once. The following steps show you the simplest way how to use the tool – creating all required objects for more tables in case of full loads.

Prerequisites: Prepare the development package in SE80 which could be used for all Glue objects. In our case, it will be ZLM_TEST.

Step list:

  1. Start transaction /DVD/GLUE and click Object Navigator.

  2. Click Generate table replication objects in the toolbar:

You will be then redirected to transaction /DVD/GL/OBJ_GEN.

  3. On the top of the screen, you have the part Source Selection. Choose the Table/View in the dropdown menu and then enter the names of the tables for which you want to create replication flow.

  4. Now you see the settings for Glue table replication on the right side of the screen.

    1. Change the field Package – insert the name of the development package from the prerequisite (you can use the default $TMP, but it is recommended to use your package). Press Enter.

    2. Fill in the field Storage ID with the name of your target storage. Press Enter.

    3. Leave the rest of the settings as default. Only one setting is checked – Add Glue request – this setting means that the field GLREQUEST with data type: DEC, length: 30, dec places: 0 is added automatically to your target glue table.

    4. Settings for binary storage are useful only in case you use binary storage.

    5. Click on Details in part Glue table generation.

    6. Now you will see the values from the right side of the screen in the first row in part Glue table generation.

  5. Click on Details in part Extractor 2.0 generation.

  6. The settings on the right side of the screen are changed. Now there are four types of settings – General, settings for Fetcher, settings for Consumer, and settings for Extraction Process.

    1. In the General settings fill in the name of the Package by the name of your package for glue objects. Press Enter.

    2. Fulfill the rest of the General settings according to the screenshots and press enter.

    3. The settings for Fetcher, Consumer, and Extraction process are left as default.

    4. Click on the Details button in part Extractor 2.0 generation.

    5. Now you will see the values from the right side of the screen in the first row in part Extractor 2.0 generation.

  7. Click on the Generate button:

You get the logs from generation:

In case of a bigger selection of tables, we recommend clicking on Generate (background). In that case, logs from generation can be found in SM37.

  8. You will find the newly created objects in the Object generator. Start transaction /DVD/GLUE and click Object Navigator.
