(DI-2211) SAP Business Objects

Before adding a new system for SAP Business Objects, please make sure that all setup and configuration are set according to the Set up SAP Business Objects guide.

To add a new system for SAP Business Objects monitoring, please follow these steps:

  1. Select the main system type SAP Business Objects.

  2. Following screen appears for Business Object’s system information.

  3. Enter System name and Description

  4. Enter Connection ID (custom value, where this ID will be set in the configuration file for JMX connection).

  5. Enter Service URI, User name, and Password configured in the chapter (DI-2211) Enable Monitoring on SAP Business Objects System.

    1. Maximum length of the password is 100 characters.

  6. Press Check JMX connection (if everything is configured correctly, a successful message with response time displayed).

    1. If any error occurred, press Check JCO setup and follow the steps described in the chapter Set up SAP Business Objects.

If you would like to monitor the SAP Business Objects from a remote SAP system, you might enter RFC Destination (configured ABAP connection to a remote SAP system). If SAP Business Objects are monitored from a central system, keeps the RFC Destination empty.

7. Press Generate BOBJ KPIs (or you might generate KPIs later by executing report /DVD/MON_BO_CREATE_RIDS).

7.1 You will be redirected into the Definition generator for the SAP BO report, enter JMX Connection ID (same Connection ID as previously entered in step 4).

7.2 Replicate KPIs to AppD option is only available when AppDynamics Integration is found on the system. It will automatically create metrics corresponding to generated KPIs from the BO system. If you wish to replicate only selected KPIs as metrics, you can leave this unchecked and add them later manually in transaction /DVD/APPD_CC.

7.3 Execute the report in a non-testing mode

7.4 Report downloads the information about all system metrics and creates new KPIs with the prefix XBO_*. A list of generated KPIs is displayed in spool output.

7.4 Return Back from Definition generation for SAP BO report and continue to step 8.

8. Confirm the setup

9. The following screen appears with the auto-detected DB server(s). Make sure that the Monitor flag is selected and press Confirm.

10. System for SAP Business Objects monitoring was added. You can start the monitoring by clicking the button Start default monitoring in the menu bar. It starts the Collector job for SAP Business Objects monitoring (Monitoring profile XBO_5MIN).
