(DI-2208) Manual Setup of the BW Analysis

In the case you prefer to set up the BW analysis manually, you may do so as follows:

To set it up you need to complete 3 basic steps:

I. Switch on the collection of extended query statistics

To analyze the usage of query elements (free characteristics and key figures), you should enable the collection of Query statistics as shown in the figure below. To perform this:

Enter the transaction /DVD/QS_CONF.

On Query Statistics settings switch on all the statistics, click Save and Confirm.

II. Switch on OLAP statistics

To obtain relevant information about the usage of your BW system, activate the OLAP statistics.

Make sure you have set the OLAP Detail Level 2 for the objects (queries and InfoProviders) for which you would like to run the query analysis. You can perform this through the transaction RSDDSTAT.

III. Schedule a BW collector

Before you schedule a BW collector, you may set the optional collector parameter.

Optional collector parameters

You can set up the language of query long-texts as follows:

  1. Select Collector settings menu under Settings.

  2. From the list of collectors select a collector for which you want to define the query language.

  3. Double click in the tree menu Parameters.
  4. Click New Entries and fill the Value with your preferred language.
 Collector Name
Parameter Name
Value Example
Description
/DVD/MON_HM_CL_COL_QULANGUAGEDE (valid language key)Using this parameter you can force the query usage collector to search for long texts of queries in a specified language. It is recommended to use this parameter if English long texts are not maintained for objects in a customer system.

Scheduling a BW collector

  1. Run the transaction /DVD/MON to open CrystalBridge® Monitoring.
  2. Switch to Collector Jobs.
  3. Click on
  4. Fill in the following Collector job settings:
    1. System ID - system on which the analysis runs (CrystalBridge® Monitoring BW analysis must be installed on a monitored system). This should be a satellite system.

    2. Monitoring profile - profile that specifies analyses that run on the system. Currently, BW analysis supports the following profiles and their respective collectors:

The Monitoring profile HMBW_1DAY includes several background jobs

      1) In the central system are running the following background jobs:

      • MON_[SYSTEMNAME]_HMBW_1DAY
      • HM_COL_STANDARD_AGG_JOB
      • /DVD/MON_DATA_CLEANUP

      2) In the satellite systems are running the following background jobs:

      • HM_COL_STANDARD_JOB
      • HM_COL_QU_JOB

      1. HMBW_1DAY profile with collectors:
        1. Data Distribution Collector

        2. Query Usage Collector

    3. Execution - time, when the first analysis run is executed.
    4. Period - periodicity of a collector job execution. This setting should follow these recommendations for monitoring profiles of the BW Analysis:
      1. HMBW_1DAY:
        1. Type: Days
        2. Value: 1
    5. Retention time - periodicity of KPI values deletion. This setting should follow the below-displayed recommendations for monitoring profiles of the BW analysis:
      1. HMBW_1DAY - 365 days
  5. Click
  6. A newly created Collector job appears in the table of all Collector jobs with all necessary information regarding its execution status.
