To avoid a data loss, both the SAP system running the Outboard Service as well as the External Storage should be regularly backed up. The individual backups shall be synced, to make sure, the links stored by Outboard in the SAP system DB correspond to the data stored in the External Storage. The backup concept of external storage is platform-specific.
