(Glue-2002) Modify a Glue Table

There are two possible ways how you can modify an existing table:

  1. Click Change on the initial screen of the Glue Dictionary

2. Click Edit <-> Display in the display mode of a table

Inactive table

By editing an inactive (saved) table, you can change all available settings (storage, description, fields mapping, etc.).

Change active table

By altering an active table the following warning message is displayed:

Technical name of this functionality is "alter table". You can append new fields to an active table and change it's description.

New fields can only be appended to the end of the already active fields. If the added fields are not positioned at the end of the table (append), they are automatically sorted in a correct way after the table is saved or activated.

You can use also Insert and Delete buttons, but you can modify only the newly created fields.

After you save the changes, the table is in Active (Revised) status while in display mode and in Inactive status while in edit mode. The Activate button alters a table on the selected storage.

We recommend to reactivate the Glue metaobjects after a Glue table alternation. This step doesn't influence other Glue components.
