Before the planned maintenance

To prevent any inconsistencies of replicated data during planned maintenance/downtime of the SAP system follow these steps to gracefully pause replication via SNP Glue:

Please be Be aware that Extraction scheduler Scheduler and Glue Watchdogs are obsolete and are replaced by Glue schedulerScheduler. We recommend moving the configurations from Extraction Schedulers and Glue Watchdogs to Glue Scheduler. More information about Glue Scheduler can be found here: (Glue-2302) Glue Scheduler in the chapter Glue Scheduler.

  1. Turning off Glue Scheduler

    Go to SNP Glue cockpit using

    :

    1. Start transaction /DVD/GLUE,.

    2. Click on “Glue Scheduler“,

    3. Click Stop for each configurated Glue Scheduler.

  2. (Obsolete) Turning off Glue Watchdogs:

    1. Go to SNP Glue cockpit using Start transaction /DVD/GLUE,.

    2. Click on “Delta watchdog“,

      Click on “Stop Watchdog“, Delta watchdog.

    3. Click Stop Watchdog, and go through every watchdog that is populated.

  3. (Obsolete) Turning off the Extraction Scheduler:

    1. Go to Start transaction SM37,.

    2. Enter the name of the job (ZDVD_GL_ESCH) into the filter and list all jobs,.

    3. Stop any scheduled jobs.

  4. After turning off every Glue Scheduler, make sure there are no replication jobs still running:

    1. To make sure no replication jobs are still running, enter SNP Glue Cockpit using transaction /DVD/GLUE, where you can and enter the “Request monitor” Request monitor.

    2. Selection filter will open, no need to adjust anything:

    3. If no replication jobs are running, the Request monitor should look like this:

  5. Turning off SNP Java Connector:

    1. Go to JCO management using Start transaction /DVD/JCO_MNG, turned on Java Connector is marked by a green tick in the column “Connection” Connection. To stop JCO click on button “Stop all” Stop all to turn off all Java Connectors or clicking on “Stop” button click Stop to stop Java Connector.

  1. Starting SNP Java Connector:

    1. Go to JCO management using Start transaction /DVD/JCO_MNG, turned off Java Connector is marked by a red cross in the column “Connection” Connection. To start JCO click on button “Restart all” Restart all to turn on all Java Connectors or clicking on “Restart” button click Restart to start a particular Java Connector.

    2. Successful start of Java Connector will be marked by a green check in the column “Connection” Connection.

  2. Storage connection check:

    1. After a successful Java Connector start, we recommend checking created storage connections. Using transaction /DVD/SM_SETUP enter the storage management,.

    2. Choose the storage connection that is used and then click on “Check” button Check.

    3. If everything works, the output should look similar to this example:

  3. Starting Glue Scheduler

    Go to SNP Glue cockpit using

    1. Start transaction /DVD/GLUE,.

    2. Click on “Glue Scheduler”,

    3. Schedule extraction job as mentioned in documentation: (Glue-2302) described in the chapter Extraction Scheduler.

  6. Check request monitor if the jobs are running:

    1. To make sure replication jobs are running after turning on Glue Scheduler, enter SNP Glue Cockpit using transaction /DVD/GLUE, where you can enter the “Request monitor”,
